Married at the first sight

In 2020, a year shaken by the Covid-19 pandemic, there were only a few weddings, but I had the pleasure of being the official photographer for three special ones…

“Married at First Sight” is a TV show transmitted on the Real Time channel. Although I personally believe marriage should be taken as a something serious, in this social experiment, with the help of a team of experts, six singles choose to marry perfect strangers, meeting their partners for the first time only at the altar.

The couples, as in previous editions of the programme , were matched by the experts based on interviews, common traits, and aptitude and psychological tests. The three couples formed were: Nicole and Andrea, Giorgia and Luca, Sitara and Gianluca.

The weddings took place in Garzeno, a small village in the province of Como. The locations for the portrait photos were set in the surrounding area: the Sanctuary of Quang, the Ponte delle Seghe, and Villa Evelina (https://www.villaevelinacomo.com)

From a photographic perspective, my job, in addition to capturing the ceremonies, was to create a serious of photo shot for each couple.

Naturalmente non è stato cosi semplice fare foto romantiche alle coppie che si erano appena formate, ma cercando di creare un atmosfera distesa e gioiosa sono riuscita a scattare molti scatti particolari.

Naturally, it wasn’t so easy to take romantic photos of couples who had just met, but by trying to create a relaxed and joyful atmosphere, I managed to capture many special shots.

It was quite emotional to see myself on the small screen and reading all the various messages of congratulations from friends, acquaintances, and old clients.

Who knows if these couples will be lucky and have truly found the love of their lives? In the meantime, here is a collection of some shots from these somewhat unique weddings.
